Meet Cara...
Meet Cara our new Head of Sales - bringing over a decade of experience from brands such as Concerto, CH&CO, Searcys and Smart Group she's ready to hit the ground running heading up the sales team.
Tell Us About Yourself...
I grew up in a small village in Cumbria but quickly realised that city life was much more my thing. I studied Sport and Business at Leeds Metropolitan University, where I soon figured out which modules I enjoyed most, events being a clear favourite.
I got my start in the events world working in a local hotel’s conference team, where I was lucky to work on some great projects and learn a huge amount, really quickly. From there, I moved into an events agency, and that’s where my passion for the industry really took off.
Fast forward 14 years and I’ve been fortunate to work with an amazing mix of corporate clients, brilliant event professionals, and some fantastic events and hospitality companies, including Concerto, CH&CO, Searcys and Smart Group. I’m really excited to have joined the Story team and can’t wait to keep growing my network and what I do next.
Proudest Career Moment?
I don’t really have one standout moment that I’d call my proudest achievement, for me, it’s more about the journey. I’m genuinely proud to work in an industry full of like-minded, driven people who are passionate about what they do. I’ve been lucky enough to work for some of London’s leading hospitality companies and in some truly iconic venues across the capital, and those experiences as a whole are what I’m most proud of.
Your Events Top Tip...
If I had to give one top tip it’d be, go with the flow and be ready for anything. Things rarely ever go exactly as planned, so being able to think on your feet and stay cool under pressure is key. Also, building good relationships with colleagues, clients, and suppliers and you will go far!
What Do You Like To Do Outside of Work?
Outside of work, I love exploring new restaurants and bars across the city, there’s always somewhere new to try and it’s a great way to soak up the city vibe. I also try to go to as many events in London as I can, whether it’s a big sporting match or a live music gig. And whenever I get the chance, I head back home to spend time with my family in the countryside – it’s the perfect way to unwind and recharge.
