London’s Most Unexpected Summer Party Venues

So, we’ve pulled together seven of our favourite unexpected summer event venues; established and new spaces we would happily recommend to our own clients.

This one is particularly exciting for us. For summer 2026, Somerset House’s iconic Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court is being transformed through a landmark collaboration with Moving Venue, part of the Smart Group family alongside Story Events. 

Purpose-built structures will blend into the 18th-century neoclassical architecture, creating an elegant covered space within the open-air courtyard, something that’s never been offered here before. The River Terrace, with its Thames views, is available alongside the Portico Rooms and Seamen’s Hall as an indoor contingency. Our event management team can provide end-to-end support.

Tucked inside the Grade II*-listed Battersea Park, Evolution London is a purpose-built event venue that offers 5,500sqm of completely flexible interior space with an 8m ceiling height. During summer, the outdoor deck and courtyard (over 3,000sqm) can be transformed with stretch tents, festoon lighting, fire pits, and BBQ stations. This UNESCO World Heritage Site in Greenwich is hard to beat. The Painted Hall, often described as the UK’s Sistine Chapel, offers one of the most breathtaking dining backdrops in the country, with riverside grounds and the option for guests to arrive by boat. Heritage spaces like this come with specific requirements around approved caterers and branding, so having an agency that already understands those restrictions saves weeks of back-and-forth.

The home of British film and television awards isn’t an obvious choice for a summer party, and that’s exactly why it’s so appealing. BAFTA’s Grade II-listed Piccadilly headquarters offers high-spec cinema screening rooms, projection mapping, and menus crafted by their in-house Executive Chef with playful nods to cinema culture. This London venue is a strong contender for summer networking events with canapes and cocktails, as shown in the below shot from the Animal Action Awards.

Best for: Client networking, product launches, team celebrations up to 200 guests

From the outside, it’s just a magnificent Grade I-listed Georgian building five minutes from Piccadilly Circus. What many people don’t know is that behind its grand façade sits a secluded private garden and terrace, a genuine hidden oasis in central London. The Carlton room opens directly onto the garden, creating a natural indoor-outdoor flow, while inside, a 15ft regency chandelier donated by King George IV sets the tone, with catering by Searcys.

Capacity: Up to 300 standing/180 seated dining 

Best for: Client canape and cocktail receptions, garden-party-style corporate celebrations

For something completely different, Frameless offers four galleries showcasing world-famous artworks at an immersive scale. You can project your own branded content onto the walls or use the existing collection. Imagine a summer drinks reception surrounded by floor-to-ceiling Monets. The venue operates on an approved suppliers list, so working with an agency familiar with those suppliers streamlines the planning considerably.

Designed in collaboration with urban artist D*Face, Art’otel Hoxton is an art-driven hotel with a striking exterior, a dedicated 135sqm gallery space, and a cultural program spanning music, fashion, and wellness. One of our top picks for summer!

Capacity: Multiple event spaces suited to mid-sized events 

Best for: Brand activations, press launches, creative team celebrations

Tucked just a stone’s throw from Barbican station, Charterhouse Square dates back to 1371. The square is surrounded by Tudor and Stuart architecture with manicured lawns, mature trees, and wildflower meadow areas, and for summer it’s transformed with an elegant stretch tent, covered bar, garden furniture, and festoon lighting.

Capacity: Up to 400 standing

Best for: Quintessential English garden parties, corporate summer soirées, networking receptions

If you want to take your summer party off dry land entirely, Silver Sturgeon is the largest private river yacht to sail beneath all of central London’s bridges. At 61 metres, this architect-designed vessel cruises between Westminster and Greenwich, passing the London Eye, St Paul’s, and Tower Bridge while your guests enjoy cocktails on the open teak upper deck. The interiors feature Missoni flooring, an oak dance floor, leather booth seating beside panoramic windows, and a marquetry-fronted cocktail bar. It’s one of London’s most unique event spots.

Capacity: 130–550 guests/Up to 440 seated dinner/300 theatre style 

Best for: Client entertainment, milestone celebrations, summer parties with a wow factor

Before you fall in love with a venue, understand your fundamentals, such as guest numbers, date range, budget, indoor/outdoor preference, and what will classify this event as ‘successful’. Getting clarity on these elements will help find which venue fits your brief.

Once you’re searching, two things are non-negotiable. First, always ask about wet weather contingency. Second, understand the restrictions. Heritage and listed buildings often have strict rules around approved caterers, noise curfews, and branding.
