London Summer Event Show 2026 Sustainability Report

London Summer Event Show 2026 Sustainability Report

At Story Events, sustainability is an increasingly important part of how we design and deliver live events in London and across the UK. For the London Summer Event Show 2026, we are proud to share our latest event sustainability report, highlighting the environmental and social impact of the show.

For the fourth consecutive year, we partnered with TRACE by Isla to measure the event’s environmental footprint, helping us track progress, identify opportunities for improvement, and make more responsible event decisions.

This work forms part of our ongoing commitment to sustainable event management, carbon reduction, and responsible live experience design under our Story Cares initiative.

Event Sustainability Measurement

Using TRACE by Isla, we measured the full environmental impact of the London Summer Event Show. Where precise data was unavailable, robust estimations were used to ensure a complete and accurate overview.

Key sustainability metrics:

  • Total carbon footprint: 19.89 tCO2e
  • Average carbon footprint per attendee: 18.64 kgCO2e
  • Total waste generated: 1.49 tonnes
  • Average waste per attendee: 1.4 kg

Environmental impact context:

  • To help illustrate the scale of the event’s footprint:
  • Equivalent to 9 cars being on the road for one year
  • Or the carbon sequestered by 99 tree seedlings grown over 10 years
  • These benchmarks help us better understand event emissions and support our long-term goal of reducing carbon impact at live events.

Reducing Environmental Impact at Live Events

Following the measurement phase, TRACE by Isla provided tailored sustainability recommendations to help us reduce the environmental impact of future events.

These insights are helping shape more sustainable event planning decisions, including:

  • Smarter production and supplier choices
  • Improved waste reduction strategies
  • More sustainable exhibitor engagement practices

We are committed to embedding these recommendations into future editions of the London Summer Event Show and across all Story Events projects.

Carbon Offset & Environmental Action

To offset unavoidable emissions from the event, we partnered with B1G1 to support verified global impact projects that deliver environmental and social benefits.

Through this partnership, we achieved:

  • 360 trees planted globally
  • 40kg of food rescued in Singapore
  • 600 days of solar lighting access in India

These initiatives contribute to global carbon offsetting, reforestation, and sustainable development projects, helping us extend the positive impact of the event beyond the venue.

Charitable Impact & Community Contributions

As part of our Story Cares sustainability and social impact programme, every attendee (1,067 visitors) contributed to selected charitable causes through a lanyard drop-off engagement system, enabling guests to actively shape the event’s impact.

These charitable initiatives were delivered in partnership with B1G1.

Attendee-driven donations resulted in:

  • 3,101 days of access to personal hygiene for girls in Kenya
  • 2,268 bricks contributed towards building school classrooms in Nepal
  • 465,000 square metres of forest protected from wildfire in Borneo

In addition, we made further contributions on behalf of all exhibitors as a thank you for their participation:

  • 180 trees planted globally

Sustainable Event Delivery: Looking Ahead

Sustainability is not a one-off initiative, but a continuous process of measurement, improvement, and responsible event production. Each year, the London Summer Event Show provides valuable insights that help us evolve and improve our approach.

At Story Events, we remain committed to delivering sustainable live events in the UK, ensuring that creativity, experience, and responsibility continue to work together.

Through Story Cares, we will continue to:

  • Reduce carbon emissions from events
  • Improve waste management strategies
  • Increase positive social and environmental impact
  • Support transparent sustainability reporting

We look forward to building on these learnings in future editions of the London Summer Event Show, and to continuing this journey as we turn our attention to the London Christmas Party Show.
