Brief

Story was instructed by a longstanding corporate client to organise their annual summer party. The brief was to find a suitable venue close to their offices for 250 people standing. The ideal location needed to have both outdoor and indoor space, with a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Story was tasked with tailoring the menu offering, sourcing and managing personalised entertainment acts and elevating the theme with additional touches bespoke to the client.

Following a complete venue search The Queen of Hoxton was chosen as the summer party venue! This quirky venue offers a fantastic rooftop space to make the most of the sunshine, as well as The Club downstairs for when the sun had set for guests to carry on the celebrations.

This year’s summer theme at the venue was ‘Little Barcelona’, which created a Spanish oasis on the rooftop, with the infamous Queen of Hoxton stairs leading you up to the rooftop. The outside space was adorned with Spanish flowers, garden games, photo booths and even piñatas filled with sweets to really encapsulate the theme.

Guests were welcomed with either a glass of champagne, sangria or a non-alcoholic mojito on arrival. The rooftop offered the perfect setting for colleagues to catch up and get competitive with the garden games, with tumbling towers of giant Jenga and Connect Four.

With restricted noise and music regulations on the rooftop, Story arranged for a traditional Spanish acoustic guitar performance, transporting the guests straight to Barcelona. He was then joined by a flamenco dancer, who wowed her audience with her rhythmic tapping feet and flair. The duo roamed through the rooftop providing up-close performances for the guests.

Once the drinks were in full flow and following a fantastic speech, it was time for food to be served! The canapés made their way through the crowd, providing the guests with a taste of Barcelona with salt and pepper squid, roasted vegetable skewers and saffron arancini balls. The Guests were then invited to enjoy a range of paellas and BBQ food from the caterers supplied by the Queen of Hoxton.

Once plenty of food and drink had been consumed, and games had been played, the guests were invited to make their way down to The Club to carry on their evening. Everyone ended up on a high, dancing and having fun with colleagues.
