As an alternative to the Company Away Weekend, we created a series of virtual activities to engage and excite the Thoughtworks’ team. Following internal feedback, the experiences tapped into an element of wellbeing, community and collaboration.

With an inclusive and creative approach, we made all 350 employees feel connected throughout the week, even while they were working from home.

A bespoke branded registration system was set up, allowing participants to opt in, highlight their dietary requirements and securely share their information for deliveries. This allowed the excitement to grow as the titles/descriptions for the workshops were released – many of which they had never experienced before!

Each day started with a wellbeing activity, whether that be desk-side yoga or breath work. This was a fantastic way to centre participants for the day ahead.

We kicked things off with flavourful taste experiments. The mysterious delivery of powders, pastes, and palette cleansers helped to build anticipation, and had guests wondering what could possibly be in store. Hosted by charismatic food scientists who taught each attendee something completely new about their tastebuds, this experience left many guests in awe and had guests sharing their new-found knowledge on company social channels.

The next day focused on Mental Wealth; what it is, how to manage stress and most crucially how to boost your happiness. Especially during this tricky time, this was received with overwhelming positivity because each participant felt valued and listened to throughout.

Our Cocktail Masterclasses proved to be incredibly popular. We even had to include an additional workshop to cater for demand! The delivery of enough ingredients to make 8 cocktails (4 during the workshop and 4 more to recreate in their own time/with family or friends) as well as a gorgeous 7-piece cocktail making kit was an absolute hit. Furthermore, the host’s energy was infectious, meaning the hour-long session completely flew by!

Last, but not least, we partnered up with a fantastic Virtual Escape room supplier who delivered an amazing activity which combined an engaging storyline with augmented reality!

The client was delighted with the outcome of the event! The internal feedback really highlighted how important this time was to unite over shared experiences. A number stated how the week felt like “a return to normality” and that the wellness activities we curated should be a regular feature in their events programme.
